USC Partek Genomic Suite Access Policy

The Norris Medical Library has licensed Partek Genomic Suite (Partek GS) for the free use of USC faculty, students and staff. This license currently consists of one concurrent user seat. To ensure proper and equal access to Partek GS, all users must comply with the following procedures and rules.

First Time Users

  1. Carefully read the policy, rules, and user agreement terms.
  2. Complete and submit the Partek GS registration form (link at the end of this web page).
  3. Follow emailed instruction to download and install the software with appropriate license configuration.
  4. Activate your USC email account for use with USC Oracle Calendar following this instruction.
  5. Follow this instruction to log on to your USC Oracle Calendar, locate the Partek GS User Group Calendar, and reserve time slots for using the software.
  6. We strongly recommend new users reserve weekday evening or weekend hours for the purpose of learning Partek GS.
  7. Use Partek GS during the time reserved. If the license is unavailable during the time of your reservation, report the problem to Norris Medical Library Tech Support: 323-442-1968.

Reservation Rules and Policy

The minimum reservation slot for using Partek GS is 2 hours, the maximum daily access limits are 4 hours (weekday working hours) or 6 hours (weekday evening hours, weekends, and university holidays) per day, per user.

8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Minimum: 2Hrs., Maximum 4Hrs.
Minimum: 2Hrs., Maximum 6Hrs.
8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Minimum: 2Hrs., Maximum 6Hrs.
Minimum: 2Hrs., Maximum 6Hrs.

 

The following rules must be strictly observed to maximize access to the Partek GS:

  1. Advanced reservations must be made using the Partek GS Oracle Calendar for any use of this software. Unscheduled use of Partek GS could be terminated without any notice.
  2. Not exceed the maximum daily access time limits.
  3. Log off by the end of reserved slot.
  4. Cancel any reservation that you cannot keep using the Partek GS Oracle Calendar.

A first violation of the rules stated above will result in an email warning. Three violations in one semester will result in suspension or loss of full access to Partek GS. Violation of any terms defined in the Partek GS Registration Form will result in loss of full access to Partek GS.
