QSAD Centurion was established in 1958 by alumni and friends of the USC School of Pharmacy as the support group for the School.
The name QSAD derives from the Latin inscription formerly written on almost every prescription: the abbreviation for "quantum sufficit ad"
this is QSADs function at the School of Pharmacy to contribute sufficient funds to make a difference between an adequate education and a great one.
- QSAD and its members have contributed over $2.5 million to the USC School of Pharmacy:
- Directed $685,000 to the construction of the John Stauffer Pharmaceutical Sciences Center.
- Pledged $400,000 to a QSAD Centurion Professorship. This professorship now has a value of $900,000.
- QSAD Contributed $385,000 to the renovation of the Center of the Health Professions (CHP).
- QSAD has currently undertaken a $150,000 fundraising project. The funds from this effort will help the School of Pharmacy establish the Technology and Education Center (TEC). As we approach the 21st century, it is important that students at the USC School of Pharmacy receive training using all of the latest technology developments so that they can compete in the changing environment of the pharmacy profession.
- Each year provides travel expenses to Pharm.D. students to attend professional state and national conferences, purchases needed equipment and provides scholarships.
