Using LDAP with Netscape 6 for Mac OS |

This document details the configuration specific to using USC's LDAP server, ldap.usc.edu, to compose messages in Netscape 6.
Note: You must have Netscape 6 configured to send and receive e-mail before continuing with the instructions in this document. For help with configuring Netscape 6, please see the documentation at Configuring Netscape 6 Mail for Mac OS.
Specifying a Directory Server
- Click on the menu, and select .
- Select the menu, and click on . The Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window will open.
- Your account name will be shown on the left side of the window. Click the Addressing subsection, underneath it.
- Under When looking up addresses:, select the Use a different LDAP server: radio button.
- Click on the button. The LDAP Directory Servers window will open.
- Click the button. The Directory Server Properties window will open.
- On the General tab, enter ldap.usc.edu in the Name: field.
- Type ldap.usc.edu in the Hostname: field.
- In the Base DN: field, enter o=usc.edu.
- Click .
- Click on the LDAP Directory Servers window, and click again on the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window.
Using LDAP to Compose Messages
You can use LDAP to complete addresses in the To: and Cc: fields.
- Go to the menu, and select .
- Type in part of a name in the To: or Cc: field. Matching names found on LDAP will appear below the field. Select the desired name by clicking on it once.
The name you've selected will be added to the header field. You may continue adding names to the message in this manner until you have finished.
