PROBLEM:
I have some SAS Data Sets with the file extension *.sd7 and SAS for Windows Version 9.x doesn't recognize them.

    SOLUTION:

Some versions of SAS for Windows have used *.sd7 as the extension for SAS Data Sets to provide compatibility with older versions of DOS that allowed only 3-character extensions.

To use these SAS Data Sets in Version 9.x and up of SAS, simply change the extension from *.sd7 to *.sas7bdat. This is done outside of SAS, using Windows Explorer, the "My Computer" shortcut, or a Command Prompt window.
