Ending your SPSS session
To leave your SPSS session and return to the UNIX prompt, hit
ESC-0 (that's zero) and you will see a mini-menu at the bottom of
the screen, in which one of the choices is "Exit". Choose
"Exit", and you will probably see two messages, in succession,
which ask you if it is OK to exit. If these messages appear, the
first will say that there are unsaved changes in your output
file, and ask you if it is OK to exit. The choice "N", for "No",
will appear by default. If you wish to exit without saving any
of your output for future use, change the "N" to "Y" and hit
RETurn. The system then will tell you that there are unsaved
changes in your input file, and ask you if it is OK to exit. If
you wish to exit without saving the contents of your Editor,
change the "N" to "Y" and hit RETurn. You will then see the UNIX
prompt, and your SPSS session is over. If the system asks you
these questions and you DO want to save the indicated
information, then you must answer "N" to the questions (i.e.,
"No, its not OK to exit"), and resume your SPSS session long
enough to save the window(s) you want using ESC-9, as explained
above.
