Using Tape Data Sets in UNIX SPSS
Data on tape may be used in SPSS, but not directly during the
session. It must be copied from the tape to a disk file, where
it is then accessed like any other file in your SPSS session.
Users who wish to move files from tape to disk, or from disk to
tape, must take their tape to the UNIX Consultants (see last page)
and provide detailed information about the files on the tape.
ITS policies on
tape processing provide
that a charge be assessed for handling each tape.
File transfers from tape routinely take several days to complete.
