Overview of Services for Faculty
USC's Information Technology Services (ITS) provides a variety of services to support faculty in their teaching, research, and other professional activities.
For help with network connectivity and software, contact the consultants at the ITS Customer Support Center by emailing consult@usc.edu or calling 213-740-5555. Walk-in support is available in Leavey Library’s Information Commons, on the lower level. Visit the Customer Support Center page for additional information.
Some USC schools and departments maintain their own IT help desk. For information about the IT help provided by these schools and departments, visit the Local IT Support page.
Computing Accounts
USC Account Activation
In order to activate your USC email account, visit the Account Activation page.
Username and Password
ITS assigns all users a unique username based on their name. It is important that you create a secure password for your USC account. Please see the Security Overview page for information on creating a secure, or strong, password.
To protect your computing account and the university computer system, ITS recommends that you visit the Password Change page to change your password every six months.
Network Connections, Email, and Related Resources
Network Connections
For information about the different ways of connecting to the USC network, visit www.usc.edu/connect.
For information about registering your personal computer or mobile device for use on the USC network, go to the Computer Registration Overview page or the Mobile Overview page.
Email
USC faculty receive 2 gigabytes of email storage. For information about email accounts and the email programs supported by the CSC, visit the Email Overview page.
USC Email Retention Policy
All email that is older than one year will be deleted automatically and permanently from USC's email servers. For instructions on how to archive your email on your personal computer, please visit Saving Email to Local Folders. If you would like to speak to an ITS staff member about moving and managing your email, please email consult@usc.edu or call 213-740-5555.
Free Antivirus, Firewall, and Other Software
To download free antivirus and firewall software for home or office use, visit the Software Download page. Other software is available as well. (A valid USC login is required.)

MyUSC, the university's portal, is available at http://my.usc.edu. It provides centralized access to various online accounts, such as Blackboard, and other resources, such as university and departmental announcements, national news, and other services. MyUSC is part of the university's single sign-on system, which means that you may log in using your USC user name and password.
Computing Documentation, Announcements, and Alerts
For information about network and systems downtimes and scheduled maintenance, see the ITS home page. The ITS website also contains documentation on connecting to the USC network and using supported software programs.
Adventures in Technology Program
The Adventures in Technology program is a series of free, computing workshops on topics that range from computer security to publishing personal web pages. For current offerings and registration information, go to the Adventures in Technology page.
Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) Resources
The Center for Scholarly Technology (CST)
The CST supports faculty in their efforts to integrate technology into the teaching and learning processes.
