Questions? Blackboard help is available day and night throughout the year.

Blackboard System Maintenance Schedule

Any regular system maintenance and server restarts are scheduled each Saturday morning between 12:01 am and 6:00 am Pacific. All users should be aware that the system may become unavailable during this maintenance time.

A Blackboard Site for Every USC Course.

A Blackboard course website has been automatically created for every fall 2011 course at USC. These Blackboard courses are currently visible only to the instructor.

After instructors have added content to their course, they can make the course available to students by logging into Blackboard and doing the following.

  1. Under 'My Courses Plus' in the far right column, click the tool icon to the left of t he course ID for the course you want to make available to students.
  2. Click the Make Course Available icon.

To view a movie that demonstrates this process, visit http://goo.gl/MnQw0. To view a handout about this process, go to http://goo.gl/6Hc0W.

Why create a Blackboard course for every USC course?

In the event of a campus closure or suspension of classes, the availability of courses in Blackboard will help USC instructors connect with students and continue teaching in a timely way.

 Merge Course Rosters: Do-It-Yourself Tool.

The roster merge tool enables USC instructors to combine Blackboard course rosters on their own.

Get more information about how you can merge course rosters at http://goo.gl/GkC51.

Course Copy: Move Content between Courses.

Want to copy content from one course to another? Visit http://goo.gl/UWqeN for step-by-step instructions.

My Courses Plus: Organize Courses; Make Courses Available to Students with Two Clicks.

The My Courses Plus module allows instructors to view their Blackboard courses by semester. It also enables instructors to make their Blackboard courses available (and visible) to students with two clicks. Instructors can also access common course tools such as the Grade Center and Send Email without opening the course itself. Get more information about My Courses Plus at http://goo.gl/jNOVM.

Course Archiving: Coming Later in Fall 2011.

In support of USC's record retention policies, the USC Blackboard support team will begin a four-year cycle of course archiving by creating a copy of all Blackboard course content and data from 2007 and earlier. This is in preparation for removing these courses from the Blackboard system.

Look for more information about Blackboard course archiving in September 2011.
