Dial-up Connections Overview
The information in this section provides information on how to use your computer to dial into the USC network and connect to the Internet, without paying a monthly fee to an Internet service provider (ISP).
To access the Internet with a dial-up modem, you must use Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). PPP is a means of providing Internet connectivity, including access to email, FTP, Telnet, and the World Wide Web, via modem connections.
Note: If you are new to USC, you will need to activate your computer account before you can connect.
The default dial-up modem number for USC is 213-743-2222. See Modem Pool Numbers for a complete listing.
