QUESTION: Are there any books that teach the novice how to use SPSS?

ANSWER: SPSS provides formal documentation about how to use SPSS, but these manuals are not usually considered novice-friendly.

There are a number of 'third-party' books, i.e., books written by people outside of SPSS available at bookstores.
