Reconfiguring Exchange Email Overview
The university has identified Microsoft Office 365 as the replacement for the existing central email system for faculty and staff. Over the next year, Information Technology Services (ITS) will coordinate the rollout of Microsoft’s cloud-based email system with various departments across campus.
As a first step toward implementing the new email infrastructure, there will be a technical change that will affect users of Outlook 2007, 2010, and 2011. If you use one of these email clients and send mail from yourname@usc.edu rather than yourname@[unit].usc.edu, you will need to reconfigure your Exchange email account ahead of this change.
This section provides instructions for that small subset of users on how to reconfigure email settings for supported devices. Please see the links available from the right-side navigation area for a step-by-step guide for your email client.
Affected Account Holders
Exchange account holders who connect to their school or departmental email account using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, and Outlook 2011 for Mac will need to change their email settings. Users who use Outlook 2003 will not be affected.
Please note that account holders who do not use Outlook or who use smartphones to access their email should not be affected and do not need to change their email settings.
Getting Help
For additional assistance with your email settings, including contacts who can help you determine your school's or department’s email server name, see the Local IT Support for Schools and Departments list.
