Using USC Email Lookup with Eudora 5.x
This document contains directions on how to configure Eudora to use USC's LDAP Email lookup server, gds.usc.edu.
Setting Up a New Directory Service
- From the Tools menu, select Directory Services.
- On the list of Registered Drivers, highlight LDAP and press the New Database button.
- In the Modify Database window, enter a name to use with the Directory.
- Replace the Host Name value of Unknown Name with gds.usc.edu.
- Click on the Search Options tab.
- Replace the value in the Search Base field with the following remember the comma between usc and dc) dc=usc,dc=edu
- Press OK to close the Modify Database window.
Adding Users to an Address Book
- From the Tools menu, select Directory Services.
- In the Databases section, make sure that the GDS-LDAP database you added is checked.
- Enter your search term(s) in the Query field and press Start to search the directory server.
- Any matches to your query will appear in the listing below the Query field.
- To add a result to your address book, highlight the entry and select Make Address Book Entry from the Special menu.
Make any changes to personal information, as necessary, and press the OK button to save the entry.
Adding Users to an Email Message from Directory Services
- From the message composition window, select Directory Services from the Tools menu.
- In the Databases section, make sure that the GDS-LDAP database you added is checked.
- Enter your search term(s) in the Query field and press Start to search the directory server.
- Any matches to your query will appear in the listing below the Query field.
- To add a result directly to a recipient field in your message, highlight the result and press the appropriate recipient button (To, Cc, Bcc). The e-mail address selected will be added to the current composition window.
Please note that multiple addresses can be added to the current composition window by repeating this process or by highlighting multiple results and selecting the appropriate recipient function.
