Managing IMAP Folders
Subscribing and Unsubscribing to Email Folders
If you are checking your email for the first time in Windows Mail, you may notice that some of the mail folders in your email.usc.edu account are not visible. If this is the case, you will need to remap your folders in order to see your all mailboxes, or, if you want to view email stored in other folders besides your Inbox, you may need to subscribe to the particular folder(s).
- Click the Tools menu, and select IMAP Folders.
- To subscribe or unsubscribe to a mail folder, select the folder name from the listing and click the Subscribe/Unsubscribe button. Folders to which you have subscribed will have a Mail Folder icon next to them.
- Once you have finished configuring the mail account, click the OK button to close the IMAP Folders window.
Creating New Folders
To create a new IMAP folder:
- Click the File menu, select Folder, and select New.
- In the Create Folder window, enter a new folder name, and select where you wish to create the new folder. For most IMAP users, this will be the name of the IMAP account, and the folder will be created on the email server.
- To create a folder on your computer, select Personal Folders from the Outlook Folders tree.
- Click OK to create the folder, and the Create Folder window will close.
