Configuring a Symbian Phone for USC Wireless and Email
The ITS Customer Support Center does not currently support mobile devices. The following documentation is provided as a courtesy to USC faculty, staff, and students who wish to use their media-capable mobile phones to connect to the USC wireless network or to access their USC email using the services of another wireless provider.
Connecting to USC Wireless
It is strongly recommended that you register the MAC address of your wireless phone for use on the USC network before connecting to the USC network. To register your MAC address, follow the instructions below.
- Turn off the phone.
- Remove the battery cover and then remove the battery.Under the battery, there should be a sticker that displays the MAC Address.
- Use a computer to register the MAC Address of your phone on the Computer Registration web page.
Your phone will prompt you to select a connection when you attempt to access the Internet. If your phone has Wi-Fi capabilities, there will be an option to Scan for Access Points.
- Select Scan for Access Points.
- If your phone is within range of a USC Access Point, select USC Wireless.
- Select Connect. You do not need to enter a password.
