Rooms and Equipment


Multimedia Services presently supports:

  • 20 auditoria, each with a full set of standardized multimedia equipment
  • 172 classrooms, each supported by one of the following: cart (will-call) or in-room equipment installations that currently come in one of two configurations: Media-Basic and Media-Plus.

A description of each type of room support standard is listed below for your reference.

Auditoria Equipment
All auditoria are controlled via an AMX Touch Screen Control Panel, lit by incandescent and fluorescent lighting, and come equipped with:

  • Dell OptiPlex GX260 PC, 3.2gHz Pentium 4, 512K Cache and 19" Flat Panel
  • Mitsubishi DD-8020 DVD Player
  • Mitsubishi HS-U776 VHS Deck
  • JBL Control 28WH 2-Way Speakers
  • 3M 1800 Overhead Projector
  • Ceiling-mounted LCD Projector
  • 12' DA-Lite Screen (GFS 106, SAL 101, and THH auditoria all have 16' DA-Lite screens)
  • Wireless lavalier microphone (except for GFS-106, which has no mic)

Note: The THH and WPH auditoria come equipped with Apple Mac G4 CTO 933MHz Computers, with Zip 250 Disk Drive, in addition to the PC standard listed above.

Cart-supported Classroom Equipment
Our cart and will-call classroom equipment list includes the following:

  • Computer Carts (both Mac and PC)
  • TV-DVD/VCR Carts
  • LCD-DVD/VCR Carts
  • Multimedia Speakers
  • Slide Projectors
  • Transparency Projectors
  • Projection Stands
  • Utility Carts

Note: Not all equipment is available in all locations. Please contact the closest Multimedia Support Office that services your class or event for further details.

Media-Basic
Media-Basic designated facilities are equipped with:

  • an installed LCD projector
  • audio amplifier
  • speakers
  • projection screen
  • data network jack for LAN & Internet access

A wall-mounted interface plate allows for user-supplied cables & source/media device(s) such as a user's laptop or VCR/DVD player to connect up to the room's LCD Projector and/or audio system. A Help Phone and call information index card are conveniently located so that a call can be made to the ITS Multimedia Support Office in charge of the room's AV equipment. Emergency calls to DPS can also be initiated from this phone.

Don't forget to bring along all needed interconnecting audio & video cables, power adapters, and an Internet "patch" cable (if you plan to use the Internet and network for your class) since the success of utilizing the Media-Basic facilities with your supplied equipment will depend on this. Contact your closest multimedia Support Office with any questions or for more information.

Media-Plus
Media-Plus designated rooms have:

  • an LCD projector, projection screen, speakers
  • an audio-visual wallbox containing:
    • a combination DVD/VCR player
    • a fold-down table for placement of portable source
    • equipment (ie. laptop computer, MP3 player, etc.)
    • a Help Phone with index card is provided for assistance
    • lighting controls provided on Wallbox for your convenience

Using the wallbox or front of room interface, a presenter can connect up his/her own laptop computer or other compatible audio-visual source equipment to the provided LCD projector and/or audio system. Please be sure to bring all connection cables, power adapters and power cords, Ethernet network (RJ-45 type) cable as necessary for your equipment.

Note: Example here of a laptop is shown to demonstrate just one possible use for the fold-down table. The laptop is NOT included in the equipment list for a Media-Plus room.
