Moving to Office 365
The university has identified Microsoft's cloud-based Office 365 product as the replacement for the university's central email system for faculty and staff. Most USC employees with email accounts on the central email system will be scheduled to move to Office 365 on a departmental basis over the course of the 2013 calendar year. ITS will coordinate these moves with each academic unit and department. We anticipate that the roll out of Office 365 will be completed in 2014.
What Happens Before My Email Account is Moved?
You will receive an email that lets you know when your account is scheduled to be moved. The email will contain general information about your new Office 365 account, as well as information that may be specific to your school or department.
Changing Your USC Password
In order to ensure that you will be able to access your new Office 365 account, you will first need to change your USC password at mypassword.usc.edu.
What Happens After My Email Account is Moved?
On the scheduled day, your Office 365 account will be activated and ITS will begin migrating the contents of your old email account into your new Office 365 account. Depending on the volume of email in your old email account, this migration could take from several hours to a day or more.
Once your Office 365 account has been activated, all incoming email will be delivered only to your Office 365 account, and you will be able to use your new account to send and receive email right away. To access your Office 365 account, you will need to follow the steps in the Accessing Your Office 365 Account section below.
Accessing Your Office 365 Account
