ITS Phone Conferencing Instructions (Plan B)
The ITS phone conferencing service is easy to use and eliminates the need to make reservations, so you do not need to call an external carrier for a call-in phone number each time you place a conference call. The ITS service also offers a cost savings of up to 20% over major carriers.

Organizing a Conference Call Using the Toll-Free Number
The person organizing the conference call will need to give the other conference call participants the following information:
- The date and time of the call
- The caller-paid number *
- The toll-free number *
- Your department’s personal code
- Your department’s conference ID
* Please note that for caller-paid calls, the caller pays for the phone call but not the fee for the conference call. For toll-free calls, the conference organizer pays for both the phone call and the fee for the conference call.
Organizing a Conference Call Using the Caller-Paid Number
The person organizing the conference call will need to give the other conference call participants the following information:
- The date and time of the call
- The caller-paid number (if the caller is local)
- The toll-free number (if the participant is a long-distance caller)
- Your department’s personal code
Joining a Phone Conference Using the Toll-Free Number
Please note that your conference ID and personal code are located on your ITS phone conferencing card.
- Dial 1-888-488-3171.
- Enter your conference ID followed by the # sign when prompted.
- You will be prompted to enter the personal code followed by the # sign.
- State your name when prompted. The system will use this recording to announce your arrival and departure when you connect to and disconnect from the call.
- You will now be connected to the phone conference call.
- To disconnect from the conference call, simply hang up.
Joining a Phone Conference Using the Caller-Paid Number
- Dial the caller-paid number listed on your ITS phone conferencing card.
- Enter the personal code followed by the # key when prompted.
- State your name when prompted. The system will use this recording to announce your arrival and departure when you connect to and disconnect from the call.
- You will now be connected to the phone conference call.
- To disconnect from the conference call, simply hang up.
Advanced Features
The following advanced features are accessible to the conference-call organizer by using the chair code:
- Muting
- Locking and unlocking
- Taking roll
- Dialing out
- Designating a participant as an exclusive speaker
- Question-and-answer sessions (requires software)
- Voting sessions (requires software)
- Placing a conference on hold
- Changing the conference duration while in session (the default is two hours)
- Ending a conference before its scheduled termination time
