Disk Storage (SAN) and Network Data Services (SANDS)
SAN
The ITS Storage-Area Network (SAN) is available to individuals and departments at USC. ITS backs up SAN every night and maintains an off-campus backup to assure that users will be able to retrieve files in the event of a local disaster.
Faculty and staff interested in storage space for their files may acquire SAN accounts. SAN accounts are $141 per individual per year. Storage is $76 per year per GB of space and may be shared among groups or departments. For more information on SAN, please contact Joanne Nam at 213-821-8057 or email its-services@usc.edu.
SAN is supported under the following operating systems: Windows 2000 and XP; Mac OS 10.2 or higher.

Pricing for user accounts is per account. Storage pricing may be per group. Groups can share storage across the same volume.
SANDS
SANDS (Storage Application and Networked Data Services) is a collection of services available for purchase from ITS, bringing greater reliability to data storage, file sharing, and application deployment across the USC network. The SANDS environment makes it possible for single users or small workgroups to gain all the advantages of using a file server (such as access to a large software library, significant storage space, and automatic backups) without incurring the high cost of purchasing and maintaining server-related equipment.
SANDS access is available to USC facuty and staff, as well as Health Science affiliates with a USCNet network connection.
SANDS software applications are supported only for the following operating systems: Windows 2000 and higher.
Shared Software Resources (Available only for Windows 2000 and Higher)

Windows Vista is not currently supported.
Application and desktop accounts are per system. Shared software resources cannot be distributed to non-SANDS registered systems.
To request a SANDS account or for information about whether you need to submit a service-level agreement, please contact Joanne Nam at 213-821-8057 or email its-services@usc.edu.
