Webcasting Services

ITS offers webcasting services to schools and departments at USC using the latest technology to provide a reliable and cost-effective way to deliver video over the Internet. To use this service, you or your chosen vendor will need to provide ITS with a video feed, and ITS will broadcast the audio and video to your audience over the web.

ITS can support up to 1,500 Real and Windows media users and up to 1,000 QuickTime media users at a time. During your webcast, we will provide both low-bandwidth video streams suitable for dial-up users and high-bandwidth streams suitable for people with fast Internet connections. People may view the live event using common viewing software such as RealPlayer or WindowsMedia Player.

USC's webcasting service is only available to USC's schools and departments on the University Park campus (UPC) and on the Health Science campus (HSC). Fees for webcasting vary depending on the time of day and duration of the webcast.

Webcasting Fee Schedule

Standard Webcast in RealMedia Format
A standard webcast provides up to 1,000 streams and is available Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


1 - 4 hours:	$500.00 flat rate
4 - 8 hours:	$1,000.00 flat rate

Note: This fee includes one on-site visit to confirm location and network connection, and the labor associated with monitoring the webcast to insure quality and problem resolution.

After-Hours Webcast in RealMedia Format
A standard after-hours webcast provides up to 1,000 streams and is available weekends or holidays


1 - 4 hours:	$750.00 flat rate
4 - 8 hours:	$1,500.00 flat rate

Note: This fee includes one on-site visit to confirm location and network connection, and the labor associated with monitoring the webcast to insure quality and problem resolution.

Extra Charges for Multiple-Stream Formats (Windows Media and and QuickTime)
• Windows media is available for an additional cost of $125.00.
• QuickTime is available for an additional cost of $125.00.

Charges for Additional Labor
Additional labor required for this service, above and beyond that provided as part of the webcast fee or quoted as part of the material and labor costs for connectivity installation, will be billed at a rate of $125.00 per hour for normal hours and $187.50 per hour for after hours, holidays, and weekends.

Charges for Expedited Service
Webcast requests received less than a week prior to the webcast date will be subject to an expedited service charge of $250.00 over and above any other charges for the service. ITS cannot guarantee that webcast requests made less than a week before the webcast will be honored.

Additional General Conditions and Considerations

Network Connection
• During the initial on-site visit, if acceptable network connections are in place, no additional charge to the customer will be incurred for connectivity.
• If a new, permanent network jack needs to be run to the building, material and labor costs will be quoted to the customer. In some cases, a shared cost solution may be proposed between ITS and the customer based on the benefit to the total USC infrastructure.
• If temporary connections are required using CAT 5 or fiber from some existing location in the building to the proposed webcast location, or to an outside location, material and labor costs will be quoted to the customer.
