System and Hardware Requirements for SAN and SANDS
To ensure reliable connectivity to SAN and SANDS, ITS requires the operating system and hardware specifications indicated below.
Storage-Only Requirements (SAN)
Windows
Operating system: Windows 2000 Professional or above;
Software: ITS-supplied anti-virus software;
Novell account and the ITS-configured version of the Novell client;
Service packs and patches as supplied by ITS
Macintosh
Operating system: Mac OS 10.2 or higher;
Software: ITS-supplied anti-virus software;
Novell account;
All current security patches and updates provided by Apple
Application and Storage Network (SANDS)
Access to shared applications requires a Dell, Compaq or IBM computer.
Operating system: Windows 2000 Professional or higher
Hardware Requirements:
Pentium-III with a minimum clock speed of 800 MHz;
256 MB of memory (RAM);
20-GB hard drive;
CD-ROM drive;
17-inch SVGA monitor with 16MB VRAM;
Intel EtherExpress Pro or 3Com 10/100Base-T Ethernet card;
1 parallel port & 2 serial ports and/or 2 USB ports;
Two-button mouse;
101 Keyboard
ITS also recommends that you have an extended onsite parts and labor warranty from the vendor of your computer.
