Sophos Endpoint Security Overview
Sophos Endpoint Security is designed to detect, remove, and prevent the spread of viruses, spyware, and other security risks. This section contains information on the versions of Sophos available at USC and instructions on how to install the software.
Versions of Sophos Available at USC
There are three versions of the Sophos Endpoint Security available for free download at software.usc.edu:
For Windows Users
- Sophos Endpoint Security 9.7 (Campus): This version—available only to USC faculty and staff—is for use on desktop computers connected to the USC wired network.
- Sophos Endpoint Security 9.7 (Home and Mobile): This version—available to all USC faculty, staff, and students—is for use on laptops, computers connected to USC wireless networks, and home computers.
For Macintosh Users
- Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac): This version—available to all USC faculty, staff, and students—is for use on any computer running the Macintosh operating system. You must uninstall your current antivirus software before you install Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac).
Uninstalling Previous Antivirus Software
Please note that to successfully install Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac), you will first need to uninstall any antivirus software previously installed on your computer. Sophos Endpoint Security 9.7 (Campus) and Sophos Endpoint Security 9.7 (Home and Mobile) will automatically uninstall any previously installed version of Symantec Endpoint Protection on your Windows computers.
