Installing Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 for Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.7

This document will explain how USC faculty, staff, and students can install Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac) on computers running Mac OS 10.4 - 10.7. This software is intended for installation on all USC faculty, staff, and student computers running the Macintosh operating system.

Uninstalling Norton Antivirus

You must uninstall your current antivirus software before you install Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac). Please see the links below for information on removing Norton Antivirus, USC's previously supported antivirus software for the Macintosh operating system.

• Uninstalling Norton Antivirus 11.0 for Macintosh (Mac OS 10.5 - 10.6)

Downloading and Installing the Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac)

1. Download Sophos Endpoint Security 7.3 (Mac) from software.usc.edu.
2. Exit all active applications.
3. Locate the Sophos Anti-Virus.mpkg file and double-click it to launch the installer.
4. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Introduction screen, click Continue.



5. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Read Me screen, read the information and then click Continue.



6. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - License screen, read the license agreement and then click Continue. On the License Agreement dialog box, click Agree to continue.



7. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Destination Select screen, click Continue.



8. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Installation Type screen, click Install to begin the installation.



9. Enter the administrator password for your computer to continue the installation process.



10. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Completion screen, read the information and then click Continue.



11. On the Install Sophos Anti-Virus - Summary screen, click Close to finish the installation process.



12. Restart your computer to complete the installation.

NOTE: The first scan you run using Sophos may take up to 30 minutes to complete. Later scans should complete in a much shorter span of time.
