Research Computer Accounts

Research computer accounts meet high performance computing needs at USC by providing users access to multi-processor UNIX servers running a variety of UNIX operating systems. These accounts are intended for the development of long-running programs or simulations, analysis of large data sets using statistical software, or extensive graphical and numerical analysis.

Research accounts are available to faculty, staff and students (primarily graduate researchers) with departmental approval. To apply for a research account, contact your department's authorized signer. Student applicants must also have the application approved by their faculty advisor.

Research computer accounts need to be renewed at the end of each fiscal year (June 30). If you don't remember to renew your account, it will be disabled. To ensure uninterrupted service, ITS recommends that you contact your department's Authorized Signer, who is responsible for account renewals, no later than June 1.
