Automatic Call Back

This feature allows you to be called back automatically when you place a call to an internal telephone number that is busy when the number you called becomes available.

When you activate this feature, the system monitors the called telephone. When the called telephone becomes available to receive a call, the system will send you an automatic call back call. Your telephone will ring in a distinctive pattern to indicate that you are receiving a call back. You then lift the handset and the user you called is called again.

Using Automatic Call Back

If you get a busy signal for a campus telephone number, please follow the steps below.

  1. Hang up.
  2. Pick up the handset.
  3. Dial *16 and wait for the confirmation tone.
  4. Hang up.

The system will retry the number every few minutes for up to 30 minutes. To cancel before the 30 minutes is up, pick up handset and dial #16, wait for confirmation, and then hang up.
