Disabling Dell Remote Access

Dell Remote Access is a program that comes pre-installed on new Dell Windows Vista laptops.

Dell Remote Access includes a feature that allows you to scan your local network for devices such as network printers, scanners, and storage devices that you may want to connect to your laptop.

This scanning activity, however, can cause USC network to slow down and become unusable. If your laptop is running the scanning portion of the Dell Remote Access program, your laptop may be blocked from the USC network.

To avoid being blocked from the USC network, please follow the instructions below to disable Dell Remote Access.

  1. Launch Dell Remote Access by going to Start > All Programs > Dell Remote Access.
  2. Dell_Remote_Access_1.JPG

  3. Click Options to open the Program Options screen.
  4. Dell_Remote_Access_2.JPG

  5. Uncheck Start Dell Remote Access when Windows starts.
  6. Click Save.
