Determining your WinXP Service Pack Version
Determining Windows XP Version from System Properties via the Start Menu
- Click the Start button.
Result: Start Menu appears (see Figure 1).

Result: The System Properties window appears (see Figure 2).

Determining Windows XP Version from System Properties via the Control Panel
- Click the Start button.
- Select Control Panel in the Start Menu.
- If you see Pick a Category, select Performance and Maintenance. Otherwise, select System from the Control Panel icons list (and skip the following step).
- Under Pick a Control Panel Icon select System.
- You can now determine the Version (Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3) from the System Properties window as seen in Figure 2.
