Library Collections

USC's is among the oldest private academic research libraries in California. For more than a century librarians, working with teaching faculty and students, have been building collections in support of USC’s teaching and research interests. Especially noteworthy collections, many resulting from the assistance of generous donors, include American literature, cinema and television, European philosophy, gerontology, German exile literature, international relations, Korean studies, Latin American studies, natural history, Southern California history, and the University Archives. USC’s libraries currently hold nearly 4 million printed volumes, 6 million items in microform, and 3 million photographs and subscribe to more than 30,000 current serial titles.
