Overview of Services

Library accounts for current USC students include the following services:

  • Facility access for all USC Libraries locations
  • Borrowing of up to 200 standard circulating material items at a time
  • Remote and on-site access to USC subscriptions of online journals, books and databases
  • Use of library information kiosk computers
  • Access to library computer labs with productivity software
  • Use of library microform readers, scanners, and photocopiers
  • Paging materials from Grand Library
  • Recalling materials checked out by other users
  • In-person reference assistance
  • 24/7 Online Chat and Email Reference
  • Interlibrary loan
  • Access to electronic and hard-copy course reserves
  • Room reservations for collaborative work rooms, conference rooms, learning rooms, and auditoria
  • Reading room access for rare books and archival materials
  • Admission to library-hosted events and exhibitions
  • Electronic document delivery (for students enrolled in distance programs only)

Library Privileges for USC Alumni and Emeriti

Library accounts for alumni and emeriti include the following services based on availability:

  • Facility access for all USC Libraries locations
  • Borrowing of standard circulating material, up to 40 items at a time
  • Remote access to the ProQuest Research Library
  • Use of library information kiosk computers to connect to subscription and other resources. Access can be requested at any Reference or Circulation desk.
    • (Computer labs, including those in Leavey, not included)
  • Use of library microform readers, scanners, and photocopiers
  • Paging of materials from Grand Library
  • Recalling materials checked out by other users
  • In-person reference assistance
  • Reading room access for rare books and archival materials

Library Privileges for Non-USC VIPs

Overview of Services

Library accounts for current Friends of the Library, sponsored guests, visiting scholars, summer program participants, individual or corporate fee borrowers, and approved members of affiliated institutions include the following services based on availability:

  • Facility access for all USC Libraries locations
  • Borrowing of standard circulating material, up to 20 items at a time (10 for high school students, 125 for corporate fee borrowers, 200 for affiliated faculty and graduate students)
  • On-site access to USC subscriptions of online journals, books and databases
  • Use of library information kiosk computers (computer labs not included). Access can be requested at any Reference or Circulation desk
  • Use of library microform readers, scanners, and photocopiers
  • Paging of materials from Grand Library
  • Recalling materials checked out by other users
  • In-person reference assistance
  • Reading room access for rare books and archival materials
