Collection 109

ARMED FORCES RADIO SERVICE

2 Boxes, 17 items

Provenance: Donated by Theodore S. DeLay, Jr., May, 1951.

Scope/Content: Research archive gathered by Theodore S. Delay in support of his 1951 USC dissertation, An Historical Study of the Armed Forces Radio Service to 1946. The collection largely consists of memoranda and reports of official U.S. Army origin, and copies of AFRS Playback Magazine. The accompanying correspondence and letters of transmittal make it clear that they were most willingly made available to Mr. Delay. The period covered is 1944-45, and the focus is on the Pacific, not the European theater of action. Many Hollywood personalities contributed to the success of AFRS.
