Description: In addition to telephone books for the years 1960 to 1980, the Downey City Library has runs of several local newspapers on microfilm: Downey City Courier (1875-1880), Downey Champion (1888-1895), Downey Live Wire (1924-1965), and Southeast News (1948-1985). It also has a notebook containing clippings, fan-club newsletters, and other material on the Carpenters which was donated by musician Richard Carpenter in the 1980s and has occasionally been augmented by members of the library’s staff.
