Archive and Collections
Description: International Child Art Collection celebrates human similarities and cultural contrasts among people throughout the world. Originated by UNESCO and entrusted in the 1960s to the Junior Arts Center, the International Child Art Collection consists of more than thirty-five hundred original works by children from over fifty countries. The collection includes art created by children in Los Angeles over the past twenty-five years. The Junior Arts Center serves schools and other community centers throughout the Los Angeles area through the International Child Art Exhibition Program. Exhibitions of twenty-four framed works are loaned for six-week periods. The workshops for teachers and students that are offered in conjunction with each exhibition provide opportunities for multicultural understanding, aesthetic exploration, and development of perceptual and language skills.
