Description: Established by Executive Order in December 1892, the Angeles National Forest comprises over 650,000 acres of diverse terrain at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 10,064 feet. The Angeles National Forest’s archival holdings primarily relate to the administrative history of the development of the forest. Materials include maps, publications, and photocopies of articles; documents produced by employees, such as daily reports from rangers; and site records and scientific reports regarding places of archaeological and historical interest within the Angeles National Forest. Some records are stored at the National Archives and Records Administration Regional Records Services facilities in Laguna Niguel and San Francisco (San Bruno) (http://www.nara.gov).
