Description: The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Library is one of the most comprehensive transportation and transit-related library research resources in the United States. It contains over thirty thousand books, reports and studies, one hundred and sixty periodical subscriptions, seven hundred videos, ten thousand microfiche, several thousand pamphlets, and other ephemera. The library also houses a substantial archival collection on the history of transportation in Los Angeles since 1871. Among its archival holdings are thousands of current and historic photographs of Los Angeles’s transportation systems, studies of different transportation systems from the turn of the century, and a collection of bus passes. Major archival materials from Pacific Electric, Los Angeles Railway, Metropolitan Coach Lines, Los Angeles Transit Lines, Asbury Transit, Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority, Southern California Rapid Transit District, and the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission.
