The intent of the LA as Subject
database is to identify privately and publicly held
archives and collections that document aspects of Los
Angeles life and history which have been underrepresented
in the past due to social, economic, and cultural barriers.
These collections are increasingly recognized by scholars
and community historians for their importance as narratives
that represent crucial chapters in Los Angeles history.
The LA as Subject database provides an online directory
of these archives and collections. With your participation,
this directory will be continually growing to constitute
a unique multiethnic and transnational resource which
identifies cultural materials that are accessible to
local communities, scholars, and students to produce
new interpretations, research, and scholarship about
Los Angeles. Please complete the submittal form below. The information you provide will be
a valuable contribution to the LA as Subject database.
