Photographs
of the Lorente Endowment Event
The
Carlos Sebastián Lorente Memorial Fund commemorates the life
of its namesake and the Lorente Family's long-standing relationship
with USC. Creation of this memorial fund for the acquisition of Cuban
and Cuban-Exile publications makes tangible Carlos Sebastián
Lorente's devotion to Cuba and its culture. The fund will enrich the
research resources of the University of Southern California and celebrate
the heritage of the Cuban community of Los Angeles and Southern California.
Donation of
the Bust of José Martí to the Boeckmann Center
 |
On April
17, 1994, at a ceremony in the Doheny Memorial Library officially
announcing the USC University Libraries' endowment for Cuban and
Cuban-Exile Studies, Mrs. Yolanda Lorente and her family donated
the bust of José Martí to the Boeckmann Center for
Iberian and Latin American Studies. The endowment and the bust
of Martí memorialize her late husband Carlos Sebastián
Lorente. Receiving the donation for USC is Barbara Robinson, Head
of the Boeckmann Center and Curator for the Center's collections.
