The International Military Tribunal for the Far East (Tokyo War Crimes Trial) was conducted
between April 29, 1946 and April 16, 1948, with the judgment delivered November 4-12, 1948.
28 Japanese former politicians, officials, and military leaders were put on trial. 419
witnesses appeared in person before the court, and an additional 779 submitted affidavits
or depositions. The proceedings were divided into fifteen phases of the Prosecution's case
and six divisions for the defence.
