Injuries Cared for in the Field

The EMS Authority conducted a survey of EMTs who responded to the civil disturbance (study design and methods are reported in the appendix). EMTs reported that 25% of the time they treated and released the injured person at the scene. Around 10% had received first aid before the EMT's arrival. About 30%-40% of the injured arrived at the hospital by ambulance. Applying these adjustments to the number transported to the hospital, EMTs treated an estimated 179 to 238 of the injured in the field.
