Community Health Problems Related to the Disturbance

Emergency telephone call volume, 9-1-1 for example(discussed below), increased at about the same rate as overall injuries (Graph 1). However, they do not drop off nearly as quickly. This may indicate that people who were not able to obtain care during the most violent two days of the event began to come in on Friday. This is consistent with data reported by hospitals. In this case they began to see an increase in the number of "everyday" emergency department problems on Friday, which continued on through the weekend and into the following week.
