Damage to Facilities
|
Neither Martin Luther King/Drew Medical Center, nor Daniel Freeman Medical Center physical plants received damage. Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region suffered no significant damage to any of its facilities (Kaiser Permanente, 1992). Saint Francis Medical Center did receive some minor damage. The Lynwood Sheriff's Department responded and dealt with the problem. Daniel Freeman Medical Center received a bomb threat early Wednesday night. The incident involved the misunderstanding by the caller that an auto accident related death resulted from the victim being thrown out of a police car. This proved not to be the case. Apparently hospitals may take on the role of scapegoat for actions unrelated to their mission. As already noted, Fontana Kai Permanente Hospital also experienced a bomb threat. A trash can fire occurred on Thursday on the fourth floor of the Kaiser Permanente Sunset Hospital, causing temporary evacuation of the building (Kaiser Permanente, 1992). |
