Medical Care Provided to Casualties Prior to Arrival

Only about thirty to forty percent of the injured arrived at the hospital by ambulance. Some hospital staff reported that these patients received the standard level of care. Other hospital staff felt that they Brad received less than normally provided. For example, Daniel Freeman felt that patients transported by Los Angeles City Fire and Inglewood Fire Department received rapid transport but minimal field stabilization (see field response section of the report).

Patients arriving by car ended up at almost any of the hospital's entrances. Severely injured patients often received little care before arrival.
