St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church
621 W. Adams Blvd.
Built in 1925 as a gift from Edward L. Doheny; designed by Albert C.
Martin in the Spanish baroque style, with a mix of California mission
architecture. It has an unusual placement; at
the request of the Dohenys, it was built at a 45 degree angle to the
intersection of Adams Boulevard and Figueroa Street. This was to prevent
commercial buildings from detracting from the beauty of the building.
The building was designated an historic cultural monument in 1971.
