Shrine Auditorium

The Shrine Auditorium was built in 1925-26 at a cost of $2.7 million; its Moorish architecture includes a dome cupola at each end of the building. The auditorium seats about 6400; adjoining it is a large pavillion hall.

This is the headquarters of the Al Malikah Temple, a division of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

In addition to its use by the Shriners it has often been the home for ballet and opera companies, as well as the location of the Academy Awards.
