A Queer Space with an Academic Point of View

Proceedings of the 1995 Conference and Ongoing Theorectical Work:
Queer Theory, Queer Culture, and Building the Future of the Internet

[This section is currently undergoing revision and development. 10/96, Last update 12/15/96.]

Queer Frontiers has generated considerable ongoing interest, queries, and commentary providing the impetus to undertake its revision and continued development. The focus of ongoing content development for "Beyond 1995" is on a queer theorectically focused investigation, analysis and critique of the Internet's cultural and social significance and impact and how it is itself generating a whole new cyber-culture and subsequent cyber-reality. Thus, Beyond 1995 will also experiment -- (link to current research project on Internet commerce) with sites or projects approaching these issues from interesting angles. Beyond 1995 invites colleagial participation through submission of articles, suggestions, comments and project proposals. Interested readers should contact the Editor [waibling@usc.edu to discuss their ideas. The Beyond 1995 Table of Contents.provides additional information.

The site continues to feature archives of the 1995 Queer Frontiers Conference. The conference keynote speech, by Professor Walter Williams and a number of graduate student papers presented at the conference are available here. The Conference section also includes a photo gallery and the full conference program.

Finally, a directory of reviewed and annotated academically oriented Queer web sites [Academic Resources] is under ongoing construction and maintenance.

The contents of the Queer Frontiers Web site are organized via the Directory displayed in the left hand frame of the screen. Queer Frontiers is an ongoing work in progress and an experiment in the development of scholarly publishing via the World-Wide-Web. The Directory is displayed throughout most areas of this site. When the Directory panel is not provided, the Naming Conventions utilized in the panel will be used to provide appropriate links.
