About the Editor of the Queer Frontiers Website
I conduct numerous workshops and seminars on Internet Resources, skills and social issues; for exmple, my current emphasis and favorite program is:
I also teache two credit courses in within the College of Letters, Arts and Science:
"Queering" the Internet is a major focus and interest (and one of my favorite pastimes!). My current research, in collaboration with Eric Schockman, funded in part by an Annenberg Center for Communication faculty research grant, will study the results of providing a free, public access Internet facility in a social services agency (the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center) on diversifying the demographic characteristics of Internet users. The project also surveys attitudes of users, compares usage in the public facility with remote user usage, and attempts to characterize, define, and evaluate resultant digital interactions and social groups. The project site, including the full grant proposal, can be found at:
The Queer CyberCenter, http://www.qcc.org
Data collection, surveying, operations, interviewing, etc. has been conducted over the last year (1996), and I plan to begin writing about my conclusions and experience in the forthcoming year.
In collaboration with Walter Williams, I have begun development of an electronic journal, The International Gay and Lesbian Review an edited collection of reviews of new publications in the field of Lesbian and Gay Studies.
New projects are always engaging my interest (too many, too often, too
little time!)......
You can find out alot more about me on my Home Page (another massive Web
project, and my playground for investigating and personalizing my theories
on cyberidentity, gender and queerness). Its at:
