I am currently completely redesigning and updating this site. That process began in late October 1996, with a graphic redesign of the site along the current frame based "Directory of Contents" structure. The original Queer Frontiers pages were my very first attempt at html authroing (begun in the summer of 1995) using Netscape's version 1. It was a pretty basic "grey, black and featureless" kind of place, and not at all reflective of the queer aesthics that is so much a part of this web environment (a fact i simply adore!)
I've now incorporated many of the "features" I've learned since, which I feel has considerably improved the look, feel and appeal of the site.
EXPANDED GOALS:A Queer Perspective & Critique on Building Culture on the Net
I have also recommitted to, and begun work on, my original plan to grow and develop the site beyond simply focusing on the 1995 conference. The Beyond 1995.... section is completely new and will reflect articles/talks, works in progress, and the ongoing Internet engangements focused on my own research and theorectical interests on the potentials for cultural revolutions inherent in the structure and develoment of the Internet.
I also wish to incorporate the works of other individuals thinking about and investigating this kind of analysis. It is my intention to develop this site as an important resource for Queer scholarship, while at the same time not being "straight-jackteted" by the limits, priviledges and lack of accessibility that often occurs in the academic arena.....an interesting challenge, but also one of those important culture building activities.

is a work still in progress.... It arose out of a presentation I made in early November for the Gay, Lesbian and Bi Graduate Student Network and focuses on my thinking on how the Net provides unique and different opportunities for self performativity and an postmodernist experience of reality...this will be an ongoing work for me.I hope my work will inspire other queers thinking through these issues to add some of their own reflections to this site..........Contact me waibling@usc.edu so we can swap around ideas!
