Overview
Audiovisual titles, including DVD, VHS, CD-ROM, audiocassette and CD formats, are collected in support of the academic curriculum and to cultivate the development of visual and multimedia literacy among USC students. Coverage includes documentaries on a wide range of subjects, feature films, poetry readings, plays, speeches and foreign-language materials. Homer, the online catalog, provides the ability to search for A/V materials by title, subject, author/producer and often the names of key performers. Most A/V materials have limited loan periods and must be used in the library.
A growing collection of more than 3,000 DVDs and VHS tapes is available in Leavey Library.
Location
Homer provides the library, specific location and call number for each title. A/V materials are available in a number of subject libraries, though many elect to house the DVD/VHS titles for their disciplines in Leavey Library, where viewing equipment is readily available. Leavey Library’s A/V collection is shelved behind the circulation desk. Unless on reserve, DVD/VHS titles circulate for four hours for viewing in the A/V Room, which is located west of the circulation desk.
