    The newspapers, pamphlets, and books gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757-1817) represent the largest and most comprehensive collection of early English news media. The present digital collection, that helps chart the development of the concept of 'news' and 'newspapers' and the "free press", totals almost 1 million pages and contains approximately 1,270 titles. Many of the Burney newspapers are well known, but many pamphlets and broadsides also included have remained largely hidden. Newly digitized, all Burney treasures are now fully text-searchable in Gale Digital Collection.

    The National Archives released the 1940 census population schedules more than 3.8 million pages) to the public. In order to find a person in the census, you first need to determine the appropriate enumeration district (E.D) number. The E.D can be found by searching census district maps and descriptions. The digitized schedules can be saved,shared or downloaded.Besides name, age, relationship, and occupation, the 1940 census included questions about internal migration; employment status; participation in the New Deal Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Works Progress Administration (WPA), and National Youth Administration (NYA)programs; and years of education.

These carefully compiled and digitized documents contain total of approximately 40,000 sources with about 450,000 pages.Daily Reports of the Gestapo Headquarters in Vienna 1938-1945 is a research database containing all 741 surviving reports outlining the mood, the political environment and security measures in Vienna and the surrounding region. Published, for the first time, the individual reports are published as first time facsimiles.
