Help

This site helps you look for:

  • Databases -- Web sites that bring content together for searching. These include sites that contain citations to books, dissertations and articles as well as sites for electronic book vendors and journal publishers.
  • eJournals- these are journals which are available online to USC faculty and students because USC has an electronic subscription.
  • E-books--books you can read online can be found by searching in Quick Search and Advanced Search.

Remote and Wireless Users:

The links on this site for subscription services limited to use by faculty, students and staff now automatically ask you to use a USC login when you are connecting via the campus wireless network or if you are using items on this Web site from off-campus. There are a handful of services that stream audio and/or video for which we cannot use the proxy server. You will need to access these resources either on the wired campus network or using VPN.

Quick Search

  • Quick Search queries a group of databases selected for use in introductory courses across a variety of disciplines.
  • Use Quick Search when you are beginning research in an area or when you need a small number of citations.
  • To see a list of items being searched click on "Which databases is Quick Search searching? »"

Advanced Search

  • Advanced Search allows you to select from over 70 databases and combine them to search across them.
  • Use Advanced Search when you want to use resources more in line with a specific course or area of research. Use it to compare databases to determine which are the best for in depth research.
