Spaces
Multimedia Room
Made possible through a generous gift from the USC School of International Relations, the Multimedia and Satellite Broadcast Learning Lab provides media equipment and a broadcast viewing space to support faculty who are working on academic projects related to online instruction and multimedia-based collaborative research. The facilities in the lab help support faculty working on the following types of projects:
- Online instruction using the Web
- Playback of video sources (DVDs, standard and foreign videos)
- Live viewing of domestic and world events and special satellite broadcast programs
- Video recording of programs, though storage media must be provided by the user
Atrium
Open air space in the center of the library which allows for 360° theater seating and accommodates informal meetings, lectures, and seminars. The unique and tranquil atrium environment combines the focused atmosphere of a classroom with the fresh air of the outdoors.
Policies for Use
USC faculty, staff, and students may reserve these spaces on a first-come, first served basis for one-time class meetings, seminars, and/or events sponsored by USC faculty, staff, or student organizations. The lab and atrium are locked at all times, so patrons should first come to the library circulation desk to request that the space be opened and must inform a staff member at the desk when they have finished. Library faculty and staff can also provide basic technical assistance in using the equipment.
If you have questions regarding these spaces or to make a reservation, please contact Mary Clark, VKC Library Assistant Manager, Bryan Hood, VKC Library Supervisor, Lourina Agnew, VKC Library Supervisor, or Rita Romero, VKC Library Supervisor. You can also call the VKC Circulation Desk at (213)-740-1769.
For use of the Multimedia Lab for course-related library instruction sessions, please contact Dr. Robert Labaree at labaree@usc.edu or 213-740-5824.
