Barry Glassner is a professor of sociology and executive vice provost at USC. His book, The Culture of Fear: Why Americans Are Afraid of the Wrong Things, was a Los Angeles Times Best Book of the Year. In 2010, Basic Books published an updated and engarled "tenth anniversary" edition. He is also the author of the 2007 book, The Gospel of Food: Why We Should Stop Worrying and Enjoy What We Eat. Glassner’s reviews and commentaries have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, and The London Review of Books, and his scholarly research has been published in The American Sociological Review, The American Journal of Psychiatry, and other leading journals in the social sciences.
